If you love Cheerios breakfast cereals as a kid, you might remember the beaming face of the then nine-year-old Katherine Heigl. Five years later, she starred in the comedy film along side Gerard Depardieu in the movie "My Father the Hero". Fast forward to a couple of years later, you might know Katherine Heigl as Isabel from the sci-fi drama TV series "Roswell" or the more popular Dr. Isobel "Izzie" Stevens from the hit TV show "Grey's Anatomy".
Katherine Heigl was born in November 24, 1978 to proud parents Paul Heigl and Nancy Heighl. She spent the first stage of her life in Washington DC and got an accountant for a dad and a personal manager for a mom. Katherine has this look that is uniquely hers, most probably because of her Irish and German descent. She was raised conservatively and was a regular member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
Katherine is the youngest in the family with four other siblings namely Jason, Meg, and John. She has lived in a number of places in the States and has resided in Virginia, Denver and Connecticut. Her family is now settled down in their farmhouse at the posh town of New Canaan in Connecticut.
At the young age of nine, Katherine was a real charm in front of the camera. Her aunt was fond of taking photographs of her during family get-together. It was not long after that her aunt discovered Katherine's natural connection with a camera lens and decided to send her photos in several modeling agencies. Weeks after, it is not surprising that Katherine got a contract as a child model and started appearing in magazine ads.
Her innate passion for acting was first seen in the movie "The Night" back in 1992. Two years later she was given a spot in the drama "King of the Hill" and landed the lead role in the comedy "My Father, The Hero" in that same year. In 1995, she played along side Steven Seagal in "Under Siege 2: Dark Territory". Because of Katherine's wholesome image, she was also given the lead role in Disney's Wish Upon a Star. In 1998, Katherine started appearing in more films and TV shows. She worked with Peter Fonda in "The Tempest" and was one of the lead roles in the horror flick "Bride of Chucky".
1999 was the year for Katherine. She signed in a contract to be Isabel Evans in the science fiction TV drama series "Roswell". With her role as Isabel, she graced magazine pages and dailies with her angelic face and sexy body. She created a following among the male crowd and was a hot find in FHM and Maxim annual calendars. Maxim gave her the no. 12 spot on the magazine's Annual Hot 100 and landed no. 19 at FHM's 100 Sexiest Women in the World.
Aside from her good looks and foxy body, this girl can act! She bagged an Emmy Award for her role as Dr. Izzie at the hit series "Grey's Anatomy". She was also nominated during the Golden Globe Awards.
